While Gippy Grewal’s upcoming film, Manje Bistre 2 revolves around a big fat Punjabi wedding in Vancouver, Canada, the Punjabi superstar doesn’t feel like attending weddings anymore.
In a candid chit-chat with us, when asked if he feels that weddings have lost their charm these days, with wedding planners taking over everything, he said, “Our film is based on this only. We have a wedding planner in our film, who wants to do things his way, and there’s a dadaji, who wants the wedding to happen in true Punjabi style. So we have shown the clash between them and also what happens as a result of it.”
“I don’t feel like attending weddings anymore. I hate aaj kal ki shaadiyaan. When I was younger, I attended all my elder cousins’ weddings and they used to be so much fun. We all used to get together, sleep together, get ‘manje bistre’ from the neighbours and that’s where I have picked up the concept from. Now-a-days relatives come according to their own convenience and even when they attend a wedding, they don’t leave their work and go. Everybody is on their phones, their whole concentration is on their work. Forget about weddings, these days people leave their offices and carry their work home. Things have changed a lot now,” he further added.
Directed by Baljit Singh Deo, the film also stars Simi Chahal, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, BN Sharma, Sardar Sohi and Hobby Dhaliwal alongside Gippy Grewal. Written and produced by Gippy Grewal, the film is slated to release on April 12.
