Perhaps the most important dish at all times was the wedding cake. The pastry chefs spare no effort or imagination to satisfy the needs of even the most captious customers. Artwork with sugar laces and top-cased vases with fresh or cream flowers to light frozen fruit desserts will decorate any feast.
Tip: when choosing the weight of the wedding cake, proceed from the fact that the portion per person is approximately 100-200 grams. This means that for 15 guests it is enough to buy a 2-3 kilogram cake, and if the soul requires a holiday with a large number of people, then for 50 people the weight of the cake should be 7-8 kg on average. But do not forget that among the guests are usually sweet tooth.
The right to cut the wedding cake belongs to both newlyweds. Although until 1930, such an honorary privilege was the responsibility of the bride. She also gets the first piece, the second of her hands gets the groom, and everything else is intended to treat the guests.
On a note. There is an excellent tradition - to give small pieces of wedding cake in boxes, a la souvenir. So in fraternal England, relatives and friends who could not come to the evening, such gifts are sent. And in America they tried to set a record for the highest wedding cake made from donuts 160 cm high. The exhibition-fair, at which such a wonderful creation was presented, enjoyed great success, because everyone who wanted received five glazed cream cannons.
You should know it:
They usually don’t give a try to the cakes, but they explain clearly what the sample of your choice is. In principle, the trial is possible, but it is rather an exception.
It should immediately determine the delivery. If the cake is large and complex, assign delivery to the professionals, no matter how much it costs. The desire to save can lead to a disastrous result: on some steep turn, the port will not keep balance and, at least, will move to the side. Is it possible after this cake to stand on the table? The delivery service will do everything quickly and professionally.
Perhaps you should further discuss the delivery time so that the cake arrives at the beginning of the “tea ceremony”.
How to cut a cake
The cake, as a rule, is cut shortly before the newlyweds leave the guests. With a special silver knife, the bride with the help of the groom cuts off the first piece from the bottom cake. Sometimes she cuts off two pieces: one for the groom, the other for herself, and each one gives the other a bite off its part. After that, the upper layers are removed from the lower cortex, cut and transferred to guests. The smallest top tier with decorations is laid aside to save it for the bride and groom when they return to the guests on the second day.
