Types of wedding dress code

Dress code - a mandatory form of clothing, which is selected in accordance with the stylistic concept of the event. Newlyweds need to notify invitees of their wishes regarding outfits in advance. If the celebration is strict or stylized, guests should have more time: at least a month or two, in time to make the appropriate preparations.
What determines the dress code? - on the format and scale of the holiday, the wishes of the newlyweds, as well as the possibilities of the guests. The last point is important: not everyone can afford to update their wardrobe for the holiday.

Types of wedding dress code

White  tie

The embodiment of rigor and formalism, a wedding, for which such a dress code is applicable, more closely resembles an aristocracy. Extremely rarely used, even awards and awards ceremonies are much easier. Uniform for men: only black dress coat, snow-white vest with three buttons, white shirt, white bow tie, a handkerchief. Accessories - gloves, pocket watches, thin cane. For women: a dress to the floor (thanks at least the lady can choose their own style), hands are closed with long gloves, preferably wearing fur capes or a bolero, a small clutch bag, jewelry. Required evening makeup and hairstyle.

A less formal dress code, which still allows some liberties, is an excellent choice for classic weddings. Requirements for men: a tuxedo complete with strict trousers, a stylish shirt with a knotted bow tie, classic shoes (not patent). For women: a dress not above the knee, stylish jewelry (or jewelry), high heels, evening make-up, hairstyle, accessories - your choice

Cocktail

The most common dress code. It can be a magnificent wedding or a friendly party - a classic costume and a cocktail dress is appropriate everywhere. Men can easily change their tuxedo to a stylish suit, a bowtie to a regular tie. Ladies can prefer outfits above the knee, but on condition that the upper part of the dress is restrained. Mandatory shoes with high heels, well-groomed appearance, stylish accessories.

Smart casual

Basically, this style is used for business meetings, however, it may also be appropriate at weddings. The festive dress suit is replaced by a business suit: soft cut, natural lines, loose pants. Shirt can be replaced by a turtleneck or cardigan, pants - well-chosen jeans. If you need to emphasize formality, choose a narrow tie, shoes - classic. Women are given a lot of room in choosing an image: there are no special restrictions on color and style, but one “but” is valid: clothes should not be vulgar or too elaborate. Magpie girls, who put on everything at once, look ridiculous and absurd. The best option is a beautiful trouser suit or dress, complemented by bright accessories.

Costumed parties

This applies not only to masquerade balls, but also to stylized weddings, which have been very popular in recent years. In this case, be sure to write in the invitations, in which the theme of the celebration will be sustained, and what you want to see your guests: for example, "Vintage outfits are welcome" or "stock up in a fabulous way" and so on.

Code of unspoken rules for wedding dress code

  • If the invitation indicates RSVP - this abbreviation means “Answer me, please”, it means that after receiving the postcard, you need to contact the organizers and give an answer;
  • If there is no information in the invitation that your spouse has been invited, you should go alone on a holiday. However, this rarely applies to weddings;
  • It is better to choose more strict and restrained outfits so as not to look vulgar;
  • Newlyweds should register their wishes; you can attach a memo on the basics of the dress code to the invitation;
  • If you are not sure about the taste of some of the invitees, you can specify the color scheme and style, send guests samples of material and sketches;
  • Special attention will be focused on the witnesses: their clothes should be harmonious. It looks very cool if the dress of the witness will be the same length as the bridal outfit. The witness should be in a strict suit, according to cut, similar to the suit of the groom. The exception is themed weddings;
  • It is undesirable for women to wear white dresses at the wedding - they will distract attention from the bride. Outfits with huge cuts, mesh tights, unsuitable shoes such as sneakers or slate, beach attributes such as shorts, T-shirts, tops, over-massive jewelery also look very vulgar. Capes, boleros, stoles are an excellent choice if you are invited to a wedding, but in the banquet hall they are usually taken off.
As you can see, the rules of the dress code are not so complicated, if you know what it is about! The dress code was invented for good reason: this is a great opportunity to show yourself as a stylish and fashion-conscious person and to pleasantly surprise others!
